Amnesty International dinner in Coquitlam
The jailing of a blogger in Iran and of artists in China. Rape as intimidation in Mexico. Assassinations of journalists in Pakistan.
The issues are far away but the concern is local for Tri-City human rights activists.
And they’ll be discussed at the Tri-Cities Amnesty International group hosts its annual fundraising dinner. Tickets for the Dec. 10 dinner are $20 and include dinner and a chance to sign petitions and letters, plus a silent auction and a short presentation on human rights issues in Burma, Syria, Iran and Canada. As well, local indie/folk/rock musician Jeff Huggins will be performing.
The dinner takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Pasta Polo, 2754 Barnet Hwy., Coquitlam. To reserve your tickets, call 604-464-7706.
