Preparing kids for success in school
A UBC professor specializing in human development, learning and culture will be the keynote speaker at a parent presentation, sponsored by the Southside Family of Schools.
Dr. Nancy Perry will speak on Supporting School Success: Helping children develop independent and effective approaches to learning.
The event slated for Tuesday, March 14 from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. at Kilmer elementary will explain the difference between self-regulation and self-control and how it can enable students to be more independent, successful learners. Dr. Perry will also discuss strategies for supporting children's success in school.
Kilmer is located at 1575 Knappen Street, Port Coquitlam and the fee for the presentation is $5 for a single parent or a couple. Free child minding is available and light refreshments will be provided.
