Organizers of this year’s Daffodil Dash have their sights set on an ambitious fundraising goal for their Port Moody run next month.

The Canadian Cancer Society event at Rocky Point Park — one of five Dashes happening around the province on April 29 — is set to bring in $20,000, almost double from last year when 147 participants came out for the cause.

The society’s annual giving co-ordinator, Nester Chen, said the Dash coincides with the designated Daffodil Month and aims to bring “all the people who have joined us during that month in the fight against cancer… and celebrate how far we have come together,” she said.

Sponsored in part by Kintec, SimplyProtein, Twiisted Media and PIXTA Social, the morning 1- or 5-k Dashes see runners and walkers of all ages; family-friendly activities are also on site and prizes will be handed out to participants dressed up in the craziest — and most yellow — costumes.

“We simply wouldn’t be able to carry out our mission to eradicate cancer through research, support and advocacy without the support of everyone who lives in the Tri-Cities,” Chen added.

To register, go online at cancer.ca/daffodildash/tricities or email nester.chen@bc.cancer.ca (no cost for kids under 10 in the mini-dash).

Volunteers are also needed to lend a hand: sign up at cancervolunteer.ca.
