Students in the Sustainable Living Leadership Program took time out of their travels to stop in Coquitlam last week.

The 25 young people were at Colony Farm Regional Park last Thursday to meet with the Kwikwetlem First Nation and to tour the nearby Colony Farm community gardens.

Led by New Westminster-Coquitlam NDP MP Fin Donnelly — the official opposition’s deputy critic for Fisheries and Oceans — the team spent 25 days paddling 1,400 km down the Fraser River. “At each stop on our journey by canoe, participants deepened their understanding about how we can protect, conserve and restore the health of our riversheds,” Donnelly said in a news release.

The SLLP is run by the Rivershed Society of BC, founded by Donnelly.
