Art for kids this Pro-D

Discover music from faraway lands in a Place des Arts faculty concert Saturday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Harp instructor Rebecca Blair, with guest harpist and flautist Judy Henry, will take audiences on a musical trek through Scotland, Ireland, France, Venezuela and Canada in A Harpist’s Journey.

Listeners will hear medieval and Renaissance tunes, along with Irish hornpipes, celtic favourites and classical pieces as well.

FAMILY DAY

Gather the kids and head to Place des Arts this Sunday, April 15 for Family Day at PdA, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Explore the new exhibits’ take on spring, and get a chance to talk to photographer John Lee. And be sure to get there early to catch the Taiko Ensemble as they kick off Family Day with their heart-stomping beats at 1:30 p.m.

All-ages drop-in workshops include recycled rain sticks, watercolour forests, straw-blow paint and tissue-paper cherry blossoms.

Admission is by donation.

DAY OF THE ARTS

Do you know what your kids will be doing on the upcoming School District 43 pro-d day?

Check out PdA’s art camp on Friday, April 20 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Activities for kids in kindergarten to Grade 5 include a variety of visual and performing arts programs.
