Indian dance at Evergreen
The artistic director of an Indian dance troupe based in Canada will spend a day at Coquitlam’s Evergreen Cultural Centre to teach her craft.
Menaka Thakkar and her Indian Dance Company are on a tour of the west coast and will stop at Evergreen on Sunday for two presentations: a family show (to launch the facility’s Sunday afternoon family series) as well as a full-length night performance.
Plus, Thakkar will lead a workshop that morning. A recent winner of the Canada Council Walter Carsen Prize, Thakkar will introduce female participants aged over 12 to the art of Indian dancing.
The workshop fee is $25, or $15 each for groups of eight or more. The cost for the family show at 2 p.m. is $18/$14; the 7:30 p.m. event is $35/$30/$15.
Call the Evergreen box office at 604-927-6555 or visit www.evergreenculturalcentre.ca.
