Plenty of antics in Christmas comedy caper

Laugh your way into the holiday season with the Vagabond Players’ Christmas comedy Dear Santa by Norm Foster, featuring Helen Volkow of Port Coquitlam at the Bernie Legge Theatre.

Join the fun as Santa Claus tries to fulfill a child’s special Christmas wish while his staff struggles to overcome a supply shortage at the North Pole.

This lively family comedy introduces a host of quirky characters — all of whom are essential to get Santa ready for his Christmas Eve tour. Volkow is having great fun playing Willikers, the Elf, trying to cope with the chaos of a Christmas Eve full of unexpected turns.

Dear Santa also features Sue Sparlin as Santa; Greg Dersken as Algernon, the efficient Chief of Staff; Kathleen Kelly Driscoll as Bozidar, the head honcho in charge of the elves; and Denise Fullbrook as Santa’s housekeeper. Adding to the fun are Jim Bjorkes as a pushy sleigh salesman and Claire Temple, Faith Hurd and Andra Louie as the visitors who create more complications for Santa.  Rounding out the cast are Alice Woodbury, Rob Larsen, Suzanne Biehl, Kelly Avery, Amy Goheen, Lindsey McGaire and Alison Main-Tourneur as elves and choristers.

Directed by Jacqollyne Keath, Dear Santa runs Dec. 6 to 23, Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. with a special Saturday matinee, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. at The Bernie Legge Theatre, Queens Park, New Westminster. Tickets are $15 and $13 for seniors and students: $13, with two-for-one previews on Dec. 6 and 7.
