A new eco-sculpture in Port Moody for Canada 150

The public is asked to select the design by May 7.
Tancho Cranes
According to Bruce Voyce's website, two sets of Tancho Crane sculptures were created by artist Bruce Voyce and planted — one for Burnaby and another for Kushiro, Japan. The project was completed for the city of Burnaby, the Stream of Dreams environmental group and the city of Kushiro and it won a National Parks Board Award of Innovation and a BCLNA award of excellence.

A bear, salmon or heron?

Those are the choices Port Moody residents are asked to pick for the city's new eco-sculpture at Rocky Point Park.

A $20,000 federal grant to mark the country's 150th year has allowed the municipality to build and install the public art piece this summer.

And Bruce Voyce — the same artist who designed Tidal Train, in front of city hall — has been commissioned to produce the living work. Voyce is also known for other eco-sculptures including, in Burnaby, Guardian Eagles, Dragster and Sage (the carousel horse).
