Postcard night

Drop into Mackin House (1116 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) between 4 and 8 p.m. to make a postcard and view the postcards in the Coquitlam Heritage collection. Materials will be supplied. The event is free and no registration is needed.

Game 2

Make your way to the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave., Port Coquitlam) for Game 2 of Round 2 of the Canucks versus Oilers playoff action. There will be food specials and prizes for attendees. Don't forget to sport your jersey. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

Legion music

Dance to the tunes at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 263 in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) where Rhythm Street takes the stage from 7 to 11 p.m. Food service is available.

Double bill

Grab a seat in the Inlet Theatre (inside Port Moody City Hall, 100 Newport Dr.) for a double show honouring the filmmaker Werner Herzog. At 7 p.m., the society rolls Aguirre Wrath of God, an action/adventure flick from 1972 that’s in German with English subtitles. And at 9 p.m. there’s Cave of Forgotten Dreams, a German/Canadian documentary from 2010. Tickets at $5 per movie are sold on a first-come, first-served basis (cash or cheque only) plus a $5 annual society membership.

Mamma Mia

Support the musical theatre students at Gleneagle Secondary in Coquitlam (1195 Lansdowne Dr.) as they present Mamma Mia! Directed by drama teacher Justin Maller with choreography by Madison Simms, the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15/$12/$10.

Crossroads coffeehouse

The Crossroads Coffeehouse, a fundraiser for the Crossroads Hospice Society, returns to the Gathering Place at Leigh Square (next to Port Coquitlam City Hall) for its May series. Fraser Union hits the stage at 7:30 p.m. while 3 In A Glovebox headlines tonight’s show at 8:45 p.m. Admission is a $10 donation at the door. Cash only.

Midsummer Night’s Dream

Watch young actors at Dr. Charles Best Secondary in Coquitlam (2525 Como Lake Ave.) play out the Shakespearean fantasy/comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the school gym. Directed by drama teacher Brad Case, the play starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15/$12 at the door.

April Wine

The Canadian rock band April Wine performs in The Show Theatre at Great Canadian Casino (2080 United Blvd., Coquitlam) at 8 p.m. Their tunes include “Roller,” “I Like to Rock” and “You Could Have Been a Lady.”
