Meet the Mounties
Coquitlam RCMP is inviting families to join local Mounties and participants from this year’s inaugural Junior Mounties Camp for an all-ages emergency response fair on Friday.
From 9 a.m. to noon at the Poirier recreation complex, all are welcome to meet police dogs and puppies and watch them demonstrate their search skills and defensive techniques. The Mounties’ forensic identification section will also host an interactive booth and the RCMP’s Air One helicopter will drop in around 10 a.m. for up-close viewing.
“The point of the camp is to build positive relationships between the Junior Mounties and real Mounties, and give these kids a taste of what policing is really like,” Coquitlam RCMP Const. Danielle Pollock said in a release Tuesday.
The fair will run rain or shine inside rec complex and in the parking lot at 633 Poirier St., Coquitlam.
Other public safety agencies attending the fair include Coquitlam Search and Rescue, BC Ambulance Service, BC Sheriffs and Coquitlam Fire and Rescue.
