The man killed in an East Road collision in Anmore Wednesday morning has been identified.

Coquitlam RCMP had asked for the public's help in identifying the victim, who had been running at the time and was not carrying any identification.

The man, said to be in his 50s, was hit shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday; the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is co-operating with police, whose investigation will include a mechanical inspection of the vehicle.

East Road between Sunnyside Road and Hummingbird Drive was closed for much of the day while police investigated.

His family has asked for privacy and his name will not be released, according to police.
