Teen in Shaughnessy crash has passed away
The driver in a single-vehicle crash on Shaughnessy Street last Tuesday passed away in the hospital on Sunday afternoon.
The 17-year-old had been driving southbound on Shaughnessy, near Metcalfe Way, on Nov. 13 when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree. He had been on life support since the crash.
"We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the victim's friends and family," said Cpl. Jamie Chung. "We ask for the privacy of the family to be respected in this very tragic event. The victim's name is not being released. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family through this difficult time."
Coquitlam RCMP are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to call investigators at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2012-31909.
