Garbage day app for PoMo residents
Port Moody residents need never miss another garbage or recycling day now that there's an app for that.
At Tuesday's council meeting, PoMo staff introduced the new garbage recycling app for smart phones, which is launching today (Friday). The app, which was developed with a Vancouver company, will allow residents to search schedules and sign up for weekly reminders via text message, email or phone.
The app also contains information on garbage carts and large-item collection days.
Benefits for the city include being able to send out emergency messages about collection schedule changes in case of severe weather, traffic accidents or road construction. The app also allows staff to selectively target a message by zone, or to all PoMo residents.
The app is available for download from the city's website (as of Friday) and from online app stores.
