Coquitlam RCMP seek information on Friday night shooting

Coquitlam police are seeking assistance from the public to find out what happened Friday night when a man was shot in the backyard of a home at 729 Delestre Ave. in Coquitlam.

The case has been referred to the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, said spokesperson Const. Jamie Chung,

Police say the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries when he was shot in the back of the neck. Police were called to the house at about 7:30 p.m. Friday night. And while the victim is known to police and the shooting is believed to be targeted, Const. Chung couldn't confirm whether the incident was gang-related.

"We believe this is targeted, however, neither the victim nor the witnesses are cooperating with the police investigation," Const. Chung said.
