UPDATE: Stolen dinosaur prop found
A stolen life-size Triceratops prop that went missing from a Coquitlam home on Wednesday has been located, according to Coquitlam RCMP.
Jim Armstrong, the owner of the dinosaur, said he is relieved after an anonymous tipster led Mounties to a home five blocks away, where the life-size plastic herbivore was found under a tarp.
"The RCMP found him," Armstrong said. "We went over there last night with a flat deck and picked it up. It has been taken to a secure location."
The dinosaur was stolen between 2 and 5 p.m. on Wednesday from the 200-block of Marmont Street, where it had been locked in a driveway.
Investigators said the prop, which is rented out to corporations to use for promotional events, is worth several thousand dollars.
Armstrong added that police have not been able to identify the person who took the dinosaur and he does not know whether it was a prank or if someone intended to keep the item.
"We never found the culprits," he said. "They found it through a tipster. They never got the person that took it."
