Michael Thomas of Port Coquitlam has announced his candidacy for school board in the Nov. 15 civic election.

Thomas has three children attending school in School District 43 and is a  soccer coach and troop leader, as well as past volunteer with many Port Coquitlam committees, including the May Day Task Force, Spirit Week Task Force, Smart Growth and Transportation and Operations committees.

Thomas said in a press release that he is concerned about SD43's financial management and promises to bring a "balanced approached" to school district issues.
