Volunteers who make Port Coquitlam a better place can be recognized by the city and be added to its honour roll.

The deadline to nominate a community helper — in the fields of arts, safety, environmental protection, sports and youth — is March 10.

To make an online recommendation, visit portcoquitlam.ca/volunteerawards. Awards will be distributed at a special event during National Volunteer Week in April.

"People may not realize just how many of the services that we enjoy in our community rely on the hard work of volunteers,” said Coun. Laura Dupont, chair of the city’s healthy community committee, in a news release. "Although volunteers never expect any compensation for the work they do, it is truly special to receive an award nomination."
