Coquitlam cyclist Jasmin Glaesser will add to her Olympic medal collection after she clinched bronze today (Saturday) in Rio, Brazil.

The Terry Fox secondary graduate took the hardware — the 11th accolade for Canada at the summer games — with teammates Allison Beveridge (Calgary), Kirsti Lay (Montreal) and Georgia Simmerling (West Vancouver) in the women's team pursuit cycling event.

They took a time of 4:14.627 and defeated New Zealand to win third place. "That Olympic medal FEELING!! So proud of this team! @TeamCanada #bronze," Glaesser wrote on Twitter after the race.

The team also got a social media shoutout from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: "A great ride for @TeamCanada in the women's team pursuit #CyclingTrack! Congrats @jasminglaesser @layk88 @gsimmerling @alli_bev! #bronze," he wrote.

At the 2012 London Olympics, the German-born Glaesser captured the same spot in the same indoor contest with teammates Tara Whitten and Gillian Carleton, edging Australia off the podium by a tenth of a second.

Last year, Glaesser, 24, snagged several medals at the 2015 Pan Am Games, taking gold in the women’s pursuit, silver in the women’s omnium and silver in the road time trial.
