A Coquitlam man is facing several bank robbery charges in connection with a string of thefts throughout Metro Vancouver.

The 22-year-old is alleged to have robbed seven banks in Coquitlam, Burnaby and Vancouver between Aug. 17 and Sept. 17. He was arrested by the Coquitlam RCMP's Prolific Target Team on Sept. 22 after an investigation that was led by the local Robbery Team, with assistance from counterparts in Burnaby and Vancouver.

"The crimes of this individual were not restricted by jurisdictional boundaries, so it made sense to take a similar strategy with our investigation," said Const. Jamie Phillipson in a release.

Joshua Carter Friesen remains in custody and makes his next court appearance at B.C. Provincial Court in Port Coquitlam on Oct. 25.
