Coquitlam teen dies following Vancouver shooting

Vancouver Police have been advised by the BC Coroners Service that the 15-year-old boy from Coquitlam, injured in Saturday's shooting, has died.

Homicide investigators are making another appeal to the public for video. Investigators believe that some people may have captured the incident and the aftermath on their cell phones/and or dash cam recordings.

Detectives are asking anyone who may havve this footage, and who have not shared it with police, to call investigators at 604-517-2500.

The youth was reportedly driving with his parents home from Vancouver Saturday evening around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 when the shooting occured in the vicinity of the Indochine restaurant on Broadway at Ontario Street.

Monday evening, School District 43 issued the following statement:

"It is with heavy hearts and sincere condolences to the family that we confirm that it was a student from School District 43 who passed away.

To respect the family's privacy, during this difficult and traumatic time in their lives we are not releasing the name of the student or the school the student attended.

Upon receiving notificaiton from the VPD we immediately alerted our Critical Response Team who immediately began providing support services to all those affected. We are communicating with staaff and students at the school."
