Coquitlam RCMP seek information on a hit-and-run that took place in Port Coquitlam on May 16. A 16-year-old skateboarder suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Coquitlam RCMP are seeking information about a hit and run that left a skateboarder injured in a suburban neighborhood off Coast Meridian Road in Port Coquitlam.

The incident took place Monday, May 16 at 3:30 p.m. in the intersection of Coquitlam Avenue and Vincent Street.

The 16-year-old victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

The vehicle involved is described as a red four door sedan with a "N" decal on the rear.

“There's absolutely no justifiable reason why someone would leave a human being lying in the middle of the street after hitting them with their car”, said Const. Jamie Phillipson. “Had it not been for the victim wearing his helmet, the injuries sustained would have been life threatening”.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote police file 2016-15419. Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers.
