International students from as far away as China, Brazil and Korea spend an average of $80 per day on food and fun in the Tri-Cities while they take summer courses, adding up to a big economic benefit for the region.
That’s according to vice-principal Jean Wong, who presented the highlights of the summer school program for international students to the board of education this week.
In addition to money circulating in the community, the program generated $2 million of revenue for the school district.
