Kitching honoured at Port Moody Arts Centre

Ann Kitching, a Port Moody Freedom of the City recipient, left Crossroads Hospice for a short time this morning (Wednesday) to visit the Port Moody Arts Centre, where she was officially honoured with a gallery in her name.

About 20 people were invited to the reception — among them, Craig and Marion Lochhead of Townline Homes, which earlier this year donated $20,000 to the St. Johns facility that Kitching once steered as society president.

As part of their gift, Townline was allowed to dedicate a room and the company chose Kitching to recognize her lifelong work in the arts and education.

"This is the biggest honour of my life," she told the group before circling the gallery that was full of wares on display for the Christmas Marketplace and Winter Treasures.

Also at the event was Kitching's daughter, Rosemary, and close friends Valerie Simons and Vicki Allesia — both of whom also have deep connections to PMAC.
