New curriculum topic at SD43 parent meeting

The new K-9 curriculum will be a topic of discussion at the Wednesday, Oct. 28 DPAC meeting in Coquitlam.

Parents interested in learning more about the new kindergarten to Grade 9 curriculum that is being introduced this year should attend this Wednesday's District Parent Advisory Council meeting at Winslow Centre in Coquitlam.

School District 43 superintendent Patricia Gartland will be giving an overview to help parents understand the changes, said Craig Woods, president of the parent organization.

"It's an emerging process and we want to keep parents involved," Woods said. "We really feel like we need to have all of her staff coming and introducing to parents how its going to look like and when," he added.

The meeting takes place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28 in the Gallery room at Winslow Centre, 1100B Winslow Ave., Coquitlam.

In addition to Gartland's overview, Jodie Wickens, a parent advocate, will speak on autism.
