Union workers with the city of Port Moody have a new contract.

Last Thursday, the 352 members voted in favour of the four-year collective agreement, which will see wages bumped up at the same rate as in neighbouring Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam — both of which signed their new deals with their respective Locals this spring:

• 1.5% in 2016

• 1.5% in 2017

• 2% in 2018

• and 2% in 2019.

CUPE Local 825 president Irene Jakse said the inside division voted 88% for the contract while the outside staff voted 61% in support.

In December 2012, PoMo's unionized workers voted 92% to accept a new collective agreement that gave them a 1.75% salary boost in the first year followed by 1.25%, 1.75% and 2% increases.

Jakse said the Local bargaining committee will start negotiations with police services this month.
