It’s summer job season and now is the time to be applying, according to the federal government, which has approved 152 summer jobs for students age 15 to 30 in the Tri-Cities this year.

A summer job helps students gain new skills and valuable work experience while enabling them to save money for the school year ahead. Thanks to Canada Summer Jobs, young Canadians from across the country will be able to access thousands of job opportunities with small businesses, not-for-profit organizations and the public sector.

This year, 3,000 Canadian employers were given funding for the first time if they met five priorities such as hiring new immigrant youth and refugees, indigenous youth, youth with disabilities and viabilities, or provided services or supports to the LGBTQ2 community, opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math STEM, particularly for women, or support official language minority communities.
