Coq. depots ‘a disgrace’

The Editor,

My wife and I have had the displeasure of visiting two of our city’s recycling depots within the last 10 days. What a disgrace.

To say the bins were overflowing is a huge understatement. At the Mariner Way depot, a number of people were rummaging through the mixed paper bins. One man even offered assistance in finding an area to drop my recycling. He was not a city worker. At the Town Centre depot, there was a sludge on the ground from disintegrating soaked cardboard.

These facilities are not dumps but depots where modern recycling should be conducted. City staff needs to monitor these facilities more closely with the intent of keeping them clean, secure and efficient.
