Coquitlam district students vote BC NDP

B.C. high school and middle school students cast their ballots for a majority NDP government
Student Vote
Pinetree secondary students were among 170,000 students from across the province who voted in a program that mirrors the B.C. provincial election.

If student votes counted in Tuesday's election there would be a little more certainty on the political scene, with a clear BC NDP majority.

The vote taken at middle and secondary schools across B.C., including School District 43, saw 60 NDP candidates elected, 12 BC Liberal Party candidates selected and 14 BC Greens.

There were 13 registered schools in the Coquitlam-Maillardville riding selecting BC NDP candidate Jodie Wickens, 14 schools in Coquitlam-Maillardville selecting BC NDP candidate Selina Robinson, 16 schools in the Port Moody-Coquitlam riding voting for BC NDP Rick Glumac and 12 Port Coquitlam schools choosing BC NDP candidate Mike Farnworth.

In all more than 170,000 elementary and high school students participated in the Student Vote program for the 2017 B.C. election.
