Coquitlam Coun. Trish Mandewo is helping to organize a fundraiser for the victims of cyclone Idai.

A group of Tri-City residents are supporting victims of cyclone Idai in Zimbabwe and Mozambique with a community fundraiser Wednesday, July 24.

A container of donated items has already been filled, now funds are needed to pay to ship to the African countries.

The fundraiser, organized by the Women’s Collaborative Hub and Trish Mandewo, Coquitlam councillor, will take place at Pasta Polo Restaurant in Coquitlam.

Tickets are $50 and include dinner and wine, and there will be surprise musical guests.

Vegan and vegetarian options are also available.

Tropical storm hit March 4 to March 21 and caused $2 billion in damage and left more than 1,200 people dead.
