Eclipps Hair Café: where a great haircut meets good coffee

Blair Goodman is a man ahead of his time. When he started serving lattes and mochas at Eclipps Hair Café in 1994, coffee shops like Tim Horton’s and Starbucks had barely gotten off the ground.

“Lattes were a fairly new concept on the West Coast back then,” he says. “I’ve always had a love of drinking coffee, so we styled the café portion of the hair salon after a coffee shop. It has become a big part of what we’re known for – serving great coffee with fantastic looks.”

Barely into his mid-twenties, Blair had a dream of owning his own business.

“I had been in the hairstyling trade and I saw this opportunity to open up my own business. I had a vision to open up a casual, friendly hair salon.”

Blair found a location and started with just him and five empty salon chairs.

“I had lots of room to grow,” he laughs. “I renovated the space myself, bought some equipment, and worked six days a week for the first two years.”

Thanks to a good business acumen and a love of customer service, Eclipps Hair Café grew in size and reputation.

“I was determined that people should be able to get an amazing look while having a great experience in the process.”

After four years, Blair moved his then team of six stylists from Eclipps’ original 1,000-square-foot location to its present day location.

Today, conveniently located on Sixth Street in New Westminster, Eclipps Hair Café comprises a team of 14 stylists in a contemporary-styled premises of over 2,000-square-feet. And, yes you can still get that freshly brewed latte along with a friendly chat and an amazing look.
