Abbot Elementary: This very charming, mockumentary-style comedy stars Quinta Brunson as a passionate public school teacher who rallies her weary and experienced colleagues into different school initiatives, with varying degrees of success. Stream it on Disney+.

Barry: What happens when a hitman goes Hollywood? Watch Barry to find out. Stream it on Crave.

Hacks: Jean Smart stars as a washed-up comedian who is grappling with her lacklustre showbiz legacy and her future in a the male-dominated, ageist industry. Stream it on Crave.

Ted Lasso: It’s not just about the moustache: Ted Lasso’s second season tackles heavier topics like depressing, anxiety and personal betray with its signature zippy optimism. Stream it on Apple TV+.

The Marvelous Ms. Maisel: A housewife-turned-comedy star in the late /50s/early '60s, with lots of familial and societal complications. Stream it on Amazon Prime.

Only Murders in the Building: Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez have a lot of chemistry in this peppy take on true crime drama. Stream it on Disney+.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: Larry David is as crusty and offensive as ever. Watch it on Crave.

What We Do in the Shadows: Another mockumentary comedy, this one follows around vampires trying to navigate the modern world (specifically, Staten Island). Watch it on Disney+.

Outstanding Drama Series – 2022

Better Call Saul: Adored by critics and audiences, the prequel to Breaking Bad follows Jimmy McGill on his journey into becoming a shady billboard lawyer (Saul Goodman). The show won’t have a surprise ending, but the storyline and performances are complex and heartbreaking. Stream it on Netflix.

Euphoria: This heart-bounding teen drama is set at high school but made for adults, with a cast of young stars like Zendaya and Jacob Elordi. Stream it on Crave.

Ozark: Take a mild-mannered family and turn them into a money-laundering corporation for a drug cartel and you’ve got four seasons of Ozark. Stream it on Netflix.

Severance: This mysterious workplace comedy from Apple was the surprise hit of the season. Stream it on Apple TV+

Squid Game: Squid Game was not just a TV show but a cultural moment and a massive win for Netflix, so it’s only fit to see it nominated. Stream it on Netflix.

Stranger Things: Eleven and the gang continue to fight for the soul of Hawkins while multiple terrifying things happen to them. Stream it on Netflix.

Succession: Centred around a fictional billionaire family that controls a media empire, the hilariously awful adult children fight for power, with each boardroom betrayal topping the next. Stream it on Crave.

Yellowjackets: Set in the mid-1990s and present day, Yellowjackets is a frightening and tense story about a girls’ soccer team that was involved in a plane crash, with only a few surviving. Stream it no Crave.
