The facility counted 13 student-athletes among the honoured by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference last week with Faculty Athletic Representative’s (FAR) Scholar-Athlete awards.

Those awards acknowledged academic success for the 2018/19 season.

Among the honourees was four-time FAR recipient and Mountain United alumna Carli Grosso, and two-time recipients Emily Chilton of New Westminster and Bianca Te of Burnaby.

Grosso, a junior defender with the SFU women’s soccer team, picked up her fourth award by posting a 4.19 grade point average. Competing in both cross country and middle distance track competitions, New West’s Emily Chilton recorded the group’s highest GPA of 4.26, while Te, a St. Thomas More Collegiate alumna and a third-year libero, was close behind at 4.23.

Also among the women who received the awards were track and field’s Calli Charlton (3.97), volleyball’s Katerina Dolguikh (3.99), basekball’s Jessica Jones (3.95) and Sophie Klassen (4.13), and golf’s Laura Jones (4.25) and Estee Leung (3.98).

On the men’s side, Ryan Stolys, a golfer from Richmond Hill, Ont., picked up his second award as a result of his 4.17 GPA. The other three male recipients came from the track and field program: Ben Conrad, a Burnaby resident originally from Nova Scotia (3.99), Liam Forster of Pitt Meadows (4.09) and Jordan Schmidt of Langley (4.08).
