Coquitlam actor Shannon Hanbury is getting rave reviews for her performance as Janet van de Graaff in this summer's hit, The Drowsy Chaperone.

The production, which runs at Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) at the Malkin Bowl — the Stanley Park outdoor venue built by her great-great-great grandfather William Malkin — is Hanbury's nineth show for the company.

A graduate of Archbishop Carney regional high school, Hanbury shares the stage with Terry Fox secondary alumnus Blake Sartin, a PoCo resident who recently graduated from Capilano University with a diploma in musical theatre.

Sartin portrays the best man, George.

Meanwhile, Coquitlam's Peter Stainton, a retired SD43 educator, plays Underling in the high-energy musical.

• Mary Poppins and The Drowsy Chaperone go until Aug. 19 at the Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park (610 Pipeline Rd., Vancouver). Call 1-877-840-0457 or visit tuts.ca.
