Port Moody actor Ziyana Vasaya is cast in the Arts Club Theatre’s first show of its new season, A Thousand Splendid Suns.
Vasaya, a recent graduate of Capilano University’s acting program, plays the daughter, Aziza, in the production, which opens Sept. 12 at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage in Vancouver.
Based on the book by Khaled Hosseini and written for the stage by playwright Ursula Rani Sarma, the story follows two women named Laila (played by Anita Majumdar, who grew up in Port Moody) and Mariam (Deena Aziz) as they navigate war-torn Kabul, Afghanistan, in the 1990s.
