Persephone returns to the Coquitlam Craft Beer Festival, on March 9.

Seven breweries will pour their coffee, flower and cereal blends — and sours — in the new “Quirky Brews” theme room at next month’s Coquitlam Craft Beer Festival.

And a Port Coquitlam manufacturer that’s making its debut will offer a golden beverage made just for the event, held March 9 at Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club.

Taylight Brewing, which opened last summer across from Peace Park, will have a Golden Grahams Braggot (mead and beer fermented together, with a box of Golden Grahams cereal dashed into the mash) featured in the Quirky corner; the PoCo brewery will also serve its Sour Soother Ale, with flavours of sour keys candy.

Russell and Lighthouse each have a coffee-inspired brews while Stanley Park Brewing will have a tap for its Sapling Series Rosé Saison — brewed with hibiscus, lime and rhubarb.

Also featured in the Quirky theme room will be Strathcona Beer Company’s “dry and tropical” Head Banger Triple IPA that’s packed with El Dorado, Mandarina Bavaria and Citra hops and cask-conditioned with champagne yeast.

East Van Brewing and TWA Dogs will be represented in the Quirky section, too.

Also new to the biannual fest will be a slightly later matinee opening — at 12:30 p.m. rather than noon — and there’ll be a market where guests can shop and take home some food from the vendors on site.

Yellow Dog (Port Moody), Mariner Brewing (Coquitlam) and Provincial Spirits (Port Coquitlam) are among the 45 craft breweries showcasing their liquids.

Partial proceeds from the festival, which is hosted by West Coast Experiences and sponsored in part by The Tri-City News, support Team Taylor with the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
