About 20 members of Coquitlam’s Dogwood Pavilion are keeping the faith in the seniors’ centre hymns sing group, which last week marked its second anniversary.

Founded by Arcadia Robinson, the non-denominational ensemble gets “encouragement, friendship and memories” by singing uplifting tunes from hymn books donated by the Blue Mountain Baptist Church.

Pianist Marilyn Pankratz leads the group from her Yamaha keyboard, on the first and third Mondays of the month — sometimes with two violinists.

“We’re not a choir,” she said. “We’re just a group of people who want to sing hymns. It’s very informal.”

Anyone wanting to hear — or join — the Dogwood Hymns Sing Group is invited to its May 1 gathering, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the North View Room.
