It’s no surprise that many people have a growing collection of reusable masks since the pandemic started, and one local Richmond charity is hoping to add another design to those collections.

Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG), a local non-profit charity, is partnering with Richmond-based Herbaland to continue the charity’s ongoing #WearTheBear fundraising campaign.

The #WearTheBear campaign was initially launched in 2020 to help fundraise for RCRG’s annual Christmas Fund program. This year, proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards supporting RCRG's various programs and services.

Masks are $20 each and the new mask design features RCRG’s Christmas Fund bear mascot as well as Herbaland’s blue gummy bear logo.

For every mask purchased, Herbaland will also include a reusable lunch bag, a pen and a full-size sour candy pouch.

“Our first #WearTheBear campaign, in support of the Christmas Fund, was very successful,” said Ed Gavsie, president of RCRG.

“When Herbaland approached us to do something similar, we were immediately on board. After all, two bears are better than one.”

Gavsie said they are glad to have Herbaland as a partner in this fundraiser.

“(Herbaland) has a global following, but they’re committed to the Richmond community. We’re excited to work with them on this initiative.”
