COQUITLAM
• Kaleidoscope Arts Festival: Join the Library at the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival this year to create your own one-of-a-kind artistic painting with Sphero robots and paint. Discover how art and technology meet with Coquitlam Public Library. Happens Saturday, August 10, 2019, 2:00 pm at Town Centre Park.
• Innovation Hub open house: Try out the HTC Vive virtual reality headset and motion-tracked hand controllers. Users can explore outer space, conquer a fear of heights, paint in a 3D space, and more. See 3D printers in action and learn how to create your own designs using high-powered creative software. Open house happens Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. at the City Centre branch. Next sessions are Aug. 9, 16 and 23.
• Summer Reading Club medal awards ceremonies: Collect a medal for working hard as a reader this summer. Collect your medal at the City Centre branch Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; or at the Poirier branch Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Library Day at the PNE: Show your Coquitlam Public Library card at the gate Aug. 21 to enter the PNE for just $6. There will be cool technology and fun activities for everyone in the Library Zone.
• Coquitlam Public Library anime convention: Youths from 11 to 19 years old, head to CPL’s City Centre branch Aug. 27 for a half-day celebration of anime culture, featuring an art marketplace, a cosplay contest, an Osu! tournament, a scavenger hunt, a karaoke contest and more. This event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm in Rooms 127, 136 and 137, and the computer lab. For more information, contact librarian Chris Miller at 604-554-7339 or cmiller@coqlibrary.ca.

PORT MOODY
• Super Saturday Summer Storytime: Join librarians for a special outdoor storytime for all ages. Every Saturday until Aug. 10, from 9:30 to 10 a.m., bring a blanket to Pioneer Memorial Park (the park across the street from the library between Knowle Street and Ioco Road) for stories, songs, rhymes, a craft and more. If the weather is bad, this program will be held inside the library. Drop-in no, registration required.
• Family game night: Aug. 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., drop in with your family to try out some great games in the library’s ParkLane Room. This is for all ages, no registration required.
• Stuffie Sleepover: Kids, bring your bravest stuffed animals to the library next Aug. 13 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for an evening of crafts, storytimes, games and more. After the festivities are done, stuffies will be left to sleep over at the library and who knows what trouble they will get into after the staff go home. Stuffies can be picked up after noon Aug. 14 and receive a special picture book of all their friends’ adventures. Drop-in, no registration required.

TERRY FOX
• Babytime: Make language fun. Help your baby develop speech and language skills; enjoy bouncing, singing and rhyming with stories. Babytime is a fun, social bonding activity for babies and caregivers. You can spend time after the program to meet and socialize. The next session is Friday, Aug. 9 from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. — drop in.
• Summer Reading Club medal ceremony with Norden the Magician: Celebrate a summer of reading. Norden will have you laughing until your sides hurt Aug. 28; 6 to 6:45 p.m., Norden’s performance; 6:45 to 7:30 p.m., medal ceremony. This drop-in event takes place at the Leigh Square bandshell.
