'Everything must go': One of Vancouver's hidden gem plant shops Bita Florist is closing

They're selling off inventory at massive discounts.

"Everything must go," reads a Facebook Marketplace listing advertising a massive sale on pots and plants in Vancouver.

Bita Florist on West Broadway, which is a local favourite and hidden gem according to TikTok, is, unfortunately, closing down.

The small space looked like a regular plant shop from the street but a jungle bursting with greenery and life on the inside. Shrubs were strung from the ceiling and vines climbed the walls with cute plant pots dotted all around on shelves and even on the floor.

One customer reported that the owner gave her free soil when she bought a plant and a pot and he offered to help pot it for her.

Now, the store owners are selling off all of their inventory for 50 per cent off the regular price with some items even more discounted.

The marketplace post also suggests that the more a customer purchases the more they are willing to discount the prices since, again: everything must go.

"We did not want to close the shop at all," says Jahangir Salarian, the owner's son. "My dad worked here for four years day and night and it’s very hard for him to close down the place."

Salarian says that they are being forced to close because the landlord raised their rent by 25 per cent to an unaffordable amount. There was also some back and forth with a potential buyer that fell through leaving Salarian's father who was burnt out with no choice but to close.

For now, the store is open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. but they recommend calling ahead of time to confirm that they're still open.
