North Delta Crime Beat: Police investigating possible teen extortion case

Several thefts including vehicles, tools and wallets also reported this week to police

*March 7, North Delta Public Safety Building 11375 84 Ave: Complainant reported theft of a black wallet containing credit cards, medical card and $40 in cash from unknown location. Credit cards cancelled after multiple transactions discovered. Fraud reported to credit card company fraud section.

*March 7, North Delta Public Safety Building 11375 84 Ave: Complainant reported their teenager being extorted. Unknown suspect sent messages to complainant’s teenager threatening to post photos if further request for money not sent. Police reviewed digital safety plan to delete all social media, getting a new phone number and to contact police should photo be released.

*March 8, 8600 Block 120th Street: Complainant reported theft of teal leather wallet from purse while shopping in local business. Wallet contained approximately $100, credit/debit cards and driver’s license. Complainant contacted credit/debit card companies to cancel cards.

*March 8, 7500 Block Vantage Way: Complainant reported theft of catalytic converter from vehicle while parked at business for repairs. Surveillance video revealed two unknown males driving an older model F-150 entering parking lot and using a reciprocating saw to cut the catalytic converter from complainants’ vehicle. Video provided to police for identification.

*March 10, 10300 Block Nordel Court: Complainant reported theft of tires from two containers at local business. Four tires, valued at $2,800, were stolen before two unknown male suspects were interrupted by employee at the location and fled on foot. No vehicle seen in area.

*March 12, 10300 Block Main Street: Complainant reported a theft of a wallet containing driver’s license, credit and debit cards from vehicle parked outside residence sometime overnight on March 11. Complainant contacted bank to cancel credit and debit cards and ICBC regarding license. Multiple attempts were made to use the stolen debit card.

*March 12, 7300 Block 115th Street: Complainant reported the theft of a Stihl power auger and power belt valued at $2,600 from their truck parked at their residence by an unknown male and female suspects. Complainant reports having seen the unknown male in the area before. Police are seeking surveillance video.
