UPDATE: RCMP say missing Pemberton man found

Toby Salin has been located, police say.

UPDATE: The Pemberton RCMP say they located Toby Salin yesterday afternoon, Saturday, June 18.

"Pemberton RCMP would like to thank all those who supported the search including: Pemberton SAR, Blackcomb Helicopters, LMD Air Services, LMD ERT, RCMP IPDS, Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police, RCMP speciality sections, Whistler RCMP, the local residents, and most importantly the friends and loved ones," a release said, adding that there will be no further information released regarding the search or investigation.

In a Twitter post, the BC Search and Rescue Association confirmed that Salin, who was an eight-year member of Whistler Search and Rescue, was found deceased.

"It is with a very heavy heart that we confirm the passing of Whistler SAR member, Toby Salin," the tweet read. "Toby will be remembered for his strong commitment to SAR, his incredible work ethic and dry sense of humour. He will be missed by many. RIP."

Pemberton RCMP is asking for the public's help in locating Toby Salin, who has been missing since June 16.

Salin was last seen in Pemberton on June 16 at about 9 a.m., according to an RCMP release.  His truck, a black 2021 Chevrolet crewcab, was later located off West Lillooet Lake Road around the In-SHUCK-ch FSR, southeast of Pemberton.

"A complete search of the area with Pemberton Search and Rescue, RCMP Air Services, Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, Pemberton RCMP, Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police, local residents, and RCMP Integrated Police Dog Services was completed with no sign of Mr. Salin," the release said.

Salin is described as a 51-year-old Caucasian male, 5-9 in height, weighing about 200 pounds. He has short, blonde hair and blue eyes.
