Richmond public schools will again not be in session on Tuesday due to the heat, but elementary students are able to pick up report cards and belongings.
Staff will be at schools at the usual start time to distribute these items, but students will then be dismissed for the summer.
According to the Richmond School District, internal temperatures in schools were “very hot” Monday and aren’t expected to drop Tuesday.
The school district is asking elementary students not to come to school if they don’t need to pick anything up.
Schools will let students know about Grade 7 graduation ceremonies if they were supposed to take place Monday or Tuesday, the school district explained in a letter posted to its website.
High school students are asked to stay home, but, if they were planning to pick up yearbooks, scholarships and awards, they should expect some communication from their school on how these will be distributed.
High schools had their last day of formal classes last week, but some secondary students were supposed to attend for makeup work. Individual schools should be contacting these students, according to the school district.
