It’s summertime and the strawberry season is in full-swing in Richmond.

GJ Farm, located at 11300 No. 4 Road, welcomes families and children to come out this week to get their hands on fresh and juicy strawberries.

The u-pick event has been around for more than 10 years at GJ Farm and this year they’ve made some creative elements to the family-event.

J Gens, owner of GJ Farm, said they have not only prepared four big fields and varieties of strawberries for people to choose from but also set up some photo spots to allow people to keep this memory alive through taking photos.

“People could come out with their families to pick some strawberries and enjoy the nice weather outside and take some photos at the photo set ups,” said Gens.

As a fun activity to bring the whole family together, the event has been running successfully over the past few years with many children running around with big smiles on their faces and red fingers and lips, noted Gens.

Gens added that a lot of people have reached out to them via social media recently asking when the u-pick is going to start this year.

“Since the weather is getting warmer and the strawberry season has started, we can’t wait to welcome everyone onto our fields,” said Gens.

The strawberry u-pick fields are open on June 9 at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. will be the last entry. People who are interested are welcome to follow GJ Farm on Instagram to get the latest updates and more info.
