Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue attended a call on April 7, after a man was reported overdue on an ATV excursion.

Sunshine Coast first responders have recovered the body of a local man who was reported overdue from an ATV excursion.

On April 7, Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers and members of the Roberts Creek Volunteer Fire Department were called to Roberts Creek after a man did not return on April 6.

The man was found dead in an area off the B&K Road, Dave Steers, the SAR manager on call, told Coast Reporter.

“It began as a search for an overdue ATV rider and unfortunately, as these things sometimes do, went from a search to recovery. When we started we were earnestly hoping that he was either out of gas or perhaps met with some little accident,” Steers said.

Sunshine Coast SAR would like to express their condolences to the man’s family.

The BC Coroners Service is investigating the death, media relations manager Ryan Panton confirmed. Const. Karen Whitby confirmed Sunshine Coast RCMP responded, but are not investigating the death.
