Rhiannon Johnson, a seed saving expert and experienced workshop facilitator, will provide people with the basic principles of seed saving.

Two virtual free workshops on seed saving will be launched to the public this summer, courtesy of non-profit Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives and funded by the Neighbourhood Small Grants program.

The sessions will teach people the basic principles and the skills to do it themselves.

According to the media release, the seed-saving practice will not only save money but also “help preserve a specific variety of plant through generations.”

In addition, the first 20 Richmondites who sign up will receive a gardening goodie bag, filled with everything you need to start planting fall and winter vegetables.

The pair of workshops will take place on Aug. 3 and Sept. 1.
