A Richmond skating club has produced two more provincial title winners on the ice.

Two athletes from the Connaught Skating Club – David Li and William Chan - won the titles last week to earn a spot in the Skate Canada National Championship Cup.

However, the national championships have now been cancelled due to the pandemic.

David, who won the B.C. Novice Mens Championship, said the biggest challenge he’s encountered this season has been mastering the triple, triple combination and triple loop jump techniques.

He added, however, that he was proud at the B.C. championships to be “able to show a solid short program and long program.”

William, who won the B.C. Pre-Novice Mens Championship, said his best memory of the competition was “skating two, flawless programs under intense pressure.”

Both boys are now done their competitive season as the nationals have been cancelled.
