Four players from the Delta Hockey Academy went in the first round of the Western Hockey League’s annual Bantam Draft on Wednesday.
Topping the list was Lukas Dragicevic who was taken fourth overall by the Tri-City Americans.
Dragicevic is a six-foot, 165-pound defenceman from Richmond who put up 52 points in 30 games with the academy’s Bantam Prep Green team in the 2019/20 season.
Centre Oliver Tulk went 12th overall to the Calgary Hitmen. The Gibsons native scored 69 points in 30 games with the academy’s Bantam Prep Green team.
The Prince Albert Raiders used the 15th overall pick to select Terrell Goldsmith, a six-foot-three, 200-pound defenceman from Fort St. James, while two picks later the Prince George Cougars selected right winger Caden Brown of Richmond.
Tri-City used their second round pick on another Delta Hockey Academy player as they took right winger Degan McMillan of Vernon with the 25th overall pick.
Centre Ethan Semeniuk became the sixth academy product to be selected when the Vancouver Giants nabbed the Calgary native in the third round.
Other academy picks included: Carter Savage, a defenceman from Surrey taken in the sixth round by Tri-City, Niko Tsakumis, was also nabbed in the sixth round by the Seattle Thunderbirds. He hails from Richmond and is also a defenceman. The final academy pick was Carter Nailen, a forward from Surrey, taken in the 10th round by Spokane.
South Delta Minor Hockey product centre Grady Lenton was selected in the eighth round by the Kelowna Rockets.
In 30 games with the Greater Vancouver Canadians Bantam AA squad, Lenton had 20 goals and 20 assists, while he had one assist in four games with the Canadians' Minor Midget team both in 2019/20.
North Vancouver centre Connor Bedard was taken first overall by the Regina Pats.
