A long-term elected official in Belcarra wants another shot at a village council seat.

Today (Thursday), Bruce Drake announced he intends to run in the Oct. 20 election.

Elected to council in 1986, Drake — a retired executive director for the federal department of industry (Pacific Region) — believes “Belcarra’s modest size calls for financial prudence, the recruitment of staff comfortable with multi-tasking and the contracting out of many professional services.”

Drake promises to work with Metro Vancouver and neighbouring municipalities to address the traffic and parking challenges during the summer months, and to preserve the village’s character.
