Happy hour and business people go together like gin and tonic, so the regional office of the Better Business Bureau figured why not hold a get together during happy hour.

Every month, BBB holds what it calls a Happy Hour Business Networking Event in a different city; this month's will be in Port Moody at Romer's Burger Bar in Suter Brook Village, Thursday, Sept. 26, 5 to 8 p.m.

Karla Davis, community and public relations manager for the BBB for Mainland BC, said the event brings business people together to exchange ideas and experiences. She said among the feedback BBB has received from participants at previous events is they like not having an agenda or someone trying to sell them something.

"The conversations vary depending on the different groups that turn up at these events," said Davis. "It's just an opportunity to mingle."

She said the BBB is more than just rating good or bad businesses. "The mandate on the whole is to advance marketplace trust, where buyers and sellers can trust each other, but part of that is having our businesses grow, have our businesses develop."
