The next court date for Port Moody Mayor Rob Vagramov has been changed.

Vagramov, who is charged with sexual assault and has taken a leave from his civic duties, was expected to see his case come back before a Port Coquitlam provincial court judge on Wednesday.

But Dan McLaughlin, communications counsel with the BC Prosecution Service, told The Tri-City News today (Monday) the court date “was adjourned by consent” between the Crown and defence lawyers until June 17 at 9:30 a.m.

“As the matter remains before the court, there will be no further comment,” he stated in an email.

According to the indictment document, Vagramov is accused of committing the crime between April 1, 2015, and July 10, 2015 in Coquitlam. Last December, the BC Prosecution Service appointed Michael Klein as special prosecutor.

Coun. Meghan Lahti is currently the acting mayor for Port Moody.
